Boeing 787 Dreamliner Set to Enter Service in UK

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will enter service with its first U.K.-based airline this summer, after Thomson Airways took delivery of the aircraft at Manchester Airport on Friday.

Thomson Airways, the U.K.'s third largest carrier, has eight 787s on order from Boeing and plans on entering the first aircraft into service in July. The aircraft includes Boeing's redesigned lithium-ion battery system, implemented following incidents where the battery system overheated on commercial flights.

"After much anticipation, we are very excited to welcome the 787 Dreamliner to our fleet and as the first airline in the U.K., hope our customers will enjoy the unique experience of this revolutionary aircraft," said Chris Browne, managing director at Thomson Airways
