Capital City Airport to host Aviation Days

On Saturday, Sept. 21, Capital City Airport (FFT) will welcome the public to its annual Aviation Day. Many local aviation groups will be represented at this family-oriented event. Admission is free and activities will take place from 9 am until 2 pm.


The Institute for Aerospace Education will have several student volunteers helping with operations.
Junior Herrera, a senior in the engineering pathway, will be in charge of concessions for the event. Senior flight student Tori Williams will be available to answer questions and give information at the IAE booth.

A new addition to Aviation Day is the Institute for Aerospace Education’s Flight Experience. This activity is lead by flight instructor Mike Wagers, with help from students Jason Smith and Samantha Tinnell. A ground lesson and simulator experience will be facilitated by the students, teaching the public basic principles of flight and aeronautics. Once the ground work has been completed, Capital City Wings will provide participants their first official flight lesson.
