Garuda signs lease deal with NAC for 25 ATR72-600s

Garuda Indonesia has confirmed that it will lease twenty-five ATR72-600s from Nordic Aviation Capital with delivery of the first two aircraft due in November of this year.

In a statement, the Indonesian national carrier said that it had signed an aircraft lease agreement with Avions de Transport Régional, as well as an aircraft lease term and commitment letter with Nordic Aviation Capital A/S at a ceremony held on September 6.

To be deployed on the airline's short-haul and remote routes, Garuda had previously planned to purchase the twin engine turboprop aircraft but later moved to lease them in order to alleviate the airline's financial burden. This arrangement replaces earlier announcements that the ATRs would be operated by Garuda's LCC,Citilink.
