Boeing has secured commitments for around 200 of its B737 MAX aircraft from multiple Chinese customers, said to include leasing firms and airlines.
Quoting anonymous sources close to the USD20.7billion deal, Yahoo Business says the go ahead for the acquisition, the first for the new 737 variant from China, must first be approved by Beijing before any specific customers can be revealed. In June, Boeing stated that 1'650 of the type were active in China with another 700 on order.
Air China, China Southwest Airlines, Hainan Airlines, China Southern Airlines, China United Airlines, Lucky Air (China), Shanghai Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Xiamen Airlines and Shandong Airlines are the most prolific operators of the B737 in China.
