Iran plans to supply fuel to foreign airlines

Iran plans to supply fuel to foreign airlines at 10 cents (per litre) cheaper than the regional countries in a bid to attract more international flights, Iran's Mehr News Agency reported Iranian deputy transport minister Ali-Mohammad Nourian as saying.

He said that jet fuel is ordinarily supplied at nine cents higher than thePersian Gulf FOB rate.

"We supply foreign airlines with fuel 10 cents below the average price whichis supplied by the regional countries in a bid to attract more international flights," he explained.

Iran's Civil Aviation Organisation has announced that it will liberalise ticket prices in order to encourage domestic airlines to improve services.

In September, the organisation's head Hamid Reza Pahlavani, said that the decision will take effect by the next four months.

In May, Pahlavani announced that two new Iranian airlines will start operation in the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21
