Another Sad Disaster - Private airplane crashes in far western Haiti, 2 reported dead

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - A Haitian official says a small private airplane crashed in the far western corner of the Caribbean nation and two people are dead.

Sylvera Guillaume of Haiti's Civil Protection Office says the plane crashed near the coastal town of Jeremie around midnight. He said Tuesday the two people on board were burned so badly that they couldn't be identified.

A spokeswoman for the United Nations peacekeeping mission says that U.N. police officers are helping the national police force respond.
