New Spanish start-up Menorca Air plans Fokker operations

Menorca Air is a planned carrier set to offer 5x daily flights to Palma de Mallorca Son Sant Joan and Ibiza, thrice daily Barcelona El Prat flights and a double daily to Madrid Barajas and Valencia Manises using a fleet of four aircraft said to include a Fokker 100 and Fokker 50s. 

Flights to Santiago de Compostela, San Sebastian and Bilbao are also planned at a later stage. The brainchild of entrepreneurs Mariano Bendito and Lorenzo Moll, the carrier will be a 51/49 joint venture with local government, a bank and some private investors and will require EUR10million in start-up capital. 

In the long run, flights to Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and the Czech Republic are also on the cards.
