New world's highest airport, Daocheng Yading, to launch on Sept. 16

Air China will begin daily A319-100 flights from Chengdu to Daocheng Yading with effect from September 16.

Situated at 4'411m ASL in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Daocheng Yading Airport will become the highest operational airfield in the world, overtaking that of Bangda which sits at 4'400m.

The airport will cut travel time between Dacheng County and the provincial capital of Chengdu from two days by bus to 65 minutes by plane, Xinhua reported.
