Iceland's WOW air to launch maiden transatlantic flights in early 2014

WOW air will enter the transatlantic market with the launch of a six times weekly Reykjavik Keflavik to Boston service beginning Spring 2014. The new route will be operated by an A320-200 and will also mark the carrier's maiden US service. According to Bloomberg, the airline is considering acquiring either B757-200s or A321-200s to help in expanding its North American route network.

“One of the reasons we’ve started with Boston is because it’s within range but we are actively looking at what aircraft would be the most suitable for new, longer destinations,” CEO Skuli Mogensen said. “I’m very excited about adding North America.” The Icelandic carrier currently serves Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Italy, Lithuania, Austria, Poland and France.
